Areas of interest
Energy efficiency & renewable energy
The European Commission has agreed to decarbonise the European building stock by 2050, which will require 3 to 4 million workers to be trained in this field. In this respect, we are working to qualify and increase the number of craftsmen and on-site workers in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings.
Digitalisation & industrialisation
The digitisation of the construction sector is a strategic priority for the European Union. It is seen as essential to boost competitiveness, sustainability and productivity in the industry. The EU drives this transition through programmes such as Digital Europe Programme,Horizon Europeand the Pact for Skills. These initiatives aim to accelerate innovation and close the digital divide.
Green & sustainable construction
The construction industry has a very important role to play in the transition to a more sustainable circular economy. Our aim is to train the construction workforce to become skilled in the tasks carried out in construction and demolition waste recycling plants, in building design, in the characteristics and behaviour of recycled and bio-based materials or in demolition practices.
Transversal skills
Construction in Europe is undergoing a major transformation through digitalisation and green transition, but also through transversal and soft skills. The EU promotes leadership, creativity, project management and client orientation viaEntreCompandLifeComp. These skills strengthen competitiveness, sustainability and resilience in facing current challenges.
Promotion of the attractiveness of the Construction Industry
The EU is working to make construction more attractive, especially for young people, women and migrants. Although it represents 9% of GDP and 25 million jobs, the sector suffers from a shortage of skilled workers. Through initiatives like Pact for Skills, companies, training centres and authorities join forces to improve training and working conditions, boosting the sector’s image.
